I'm Dan. I've been living and working in Paris since 2011, and I speak French professionally and personally. Disney cast me as the English and French voice of a well-known little blue alien for eight years. I am the only person ever given that role in both languages. The show was live, which meant deep cultural fluency was not optional. You cannot wing that in front of a French audience.
I know exactly how the French think, communicate, and react when someone shouts "EXCUSEZ-MOI, DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?" at them with increasing volume. I also know how to make sure you never have to do that again.
